Our Inspiration

The inspiration for creating “LV LUMBER”, in honor of Landon Vargas, is deeply connected to our mission. While we started this company to provide top quality wooden bats to baseball players of all ages, our real inspiration for LV LUMBER goes much deeper.
The idea commenced three years ago.  One of our best friends, and closest family members, was diagnosed on his fourth birthday with a very rare form of pediatric cancer. Landon battled the disease bravely and valiantly. He fought like a champion until the very end, but eventually lost his five year struggle, nine days after his ninth birthday.
Landon was a true inspiration to everyone whom he met. Despite undergoing numerous operations and requiring constant treatments and procedures, Landon was known for his ever present smile and quick wit. Like most kids, he loved to play sports, he loved to compete, and he loved to win. Although Landon was an avid basketball, soccer, and lacrosse player, as well as an accomplished wrestler, his greatest love was baseball. He always wanted to go to the field and play.
He loved every part of the game - from playing to cheering on his hometown team, the Philadelphia Phillies, to eating dollar dogs. Landon never turned down the chance to be around the game. One of Landon’s most prized possessions was a game ball, flipped to him by Albert Pujols, the Cardinals first baseman, between innings of a Phillies - Cardinals game.  At the time, Landon didn’t know who Albert Pujols was, but Pujols soon became Landon’s favorite player. Landon loved telling everyone how the best hitter in baseball had given him a ball.
LV Lumber was created to remember Landon and bring his ever present smile to other young warriors enduring their own battles with pediatric cancer.
